TYSO ‘s concert continues the theme of bringing the past into the present. Grieg’s Holberg Suite reworks folk tunes from his native Norway while Sally Beamish’s The Day Dawn borrows the warm colours of a Shetland fiddle tune celebrating the coming of spring. Dobrinka Tabakova’s Dawn has low rich string sounds that ascend heavenwards as the sun rises and the concert ends with Diana Burrell’s energetic Anima.
